 Kindergarten Leopold

Starting in September 2022, a contingent of full-day places is reserved for children of employees of the University of Innsbruck in the Kindergarten Leopold in Innsbruck-Wilten, which is operated by the Kinderfreunde Tirol. A big advantage of this kindergarten is that the childcare hours are adapted to working parents (Mon-Fri 7:00-18:00, open all year round) and the costs are co-financed by the university in the form of a subsidy.

Children’s age

Children entering the kindergarten must be at least three years old and may not yet be of compulsory school age.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The kindergarten is open all year round except for 5 closing days.

Fees

The monthly fee for a full-day place in the kindergarten year 2023/2024 is € 360.

Meal: € 4.20 per lunch

Tyrol government Family subsidy: For children in the last two years of kindergarten, the contribution is reduced by € 45.00 per month from September to June. The months of July and August are not subsidized by the provincial government.

University Subsidy: The University supports full-day places for children of employees in active employment of at least 20 h per week or 7 semester hours/week of teaching with an amount of € 160 per month.

Registration

Applications for the 2024/25 kindergarten year will be accepted at Family Service until December 31, 2023.

! Please note: registration does not automatically guarantee admission!

Places are allocated in January for the following kindergarten year. If the number of applications exceeds the available number of places, a committee decides on the ranking. The following selection criteria are used for the allocation of places:

• Employment level (applicant and possibly for their partner)
• Single parent
• Alternative care options at the place of residence (e.g. regarding opening hours)
• Other reasons worthy of consideration (e.g. both parents employed at the university; siblings, applicants who do not have a local network available, e.g. if they are moving to Tyrol for the first time)

Deposit

A deposit of 200 € will be charged when a place at the kindergarten is accepted. Once this deposit has been received, the place at the kindergarten is firmly reserved. If the place is taken up, the deposit will be refunded after the start of care.
