  • How does the final version of Plan S affect scholars who receive FWF funding?
    Following an open consultation process, the final guidelines for the implementation of Plan S were published at the end of May 2019. Plan S comes into force on 1.1.2021 and means amended Open Access conditions for the publication of scientific articles resulting from FWF projects.

    As a leader in the global movement toward open access to publicly funded research, the University of California is taking a firm stand by deciding not to renew its subscriptions with Elsevier. Despite months of contract negotiations, Elsevier was unwilling to meet UC’s key goal: securing universal open access to UC research while containing the rapidly escalating costs associated with for-profit journals.
  • Open Access Publishing with De Gruyter
    We offer scientists from the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck the opportunity to publish open access in De Gruyter hybrid journals free of charge. We have agreed an Open Access deal with the publisher De Gruyter, which offers scientists of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck the possibility to publish their research results as corresponding authors open access in hybrid journals of De Gruyter without additional payment of Article Processing Charges (APCs). Special agreement for Gold OA journals: for publications in Gold OA journals by De Gruyter, there is a discount of 15% per article. The agreement also includes online access to all of the publisher's journals and is valid for the year 2019.

    Open Access - unrestricted and free access to scientific literature - is a recent and forward-looking topic. What services, financing options and supporting offers are available at the university? How can the legal framework conditions be handled? Which aspects of Open Access publishing require special attention? These and similar questions are dealt with in the course. We offer to visit your department for consultation and information events also in English.
