- New offer for open access publishing in Elsevier journalsSince January 2021, a new offer allows members of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck to publish open access free of charge in gold open access journals of Elsevier in addition to hybrid journals.
- Open Access publishing in RSC journalsSince January 2021, members of the University of Innsbruck are again eligible for free open access publishing with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Members of the University of Innsbruck can publish in almost 40 RSC hybrid journals free of charge and have access to over 50 of the publisher's scientific journals.
- New FWF Open Access Policy starting 2021The FWF’s new open access guidelines will go into effect on 1 January 2021 and be in line with the international Plan S initiative. The new Open Access Policy applies for all FWF research projects that are approved as of 1 January 2021.
- Open Research EuropeThe European Commission has launched a scientific publishing service called Open Research Europe. Open Research Europe provides all Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe beneficiaries and their researchers with a venue to publish their results in open access, at no cost, and in full compliance with the open access policies. The formal launch of the platform will take place in early 2021, but submissions are already open. The platform is accepting publications in all fields of science.
- FWF: Funding to Establish or Modernise Scientific/Academic Journals to Comply with Plan SAs of 1 January 2020, the Stand-Alone Publications programme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) was updated to fund the establishment or modernisation of scientific/academic journals, with the aim of meeting the minimum requirements for publication formats of Plan S of cOAlition S.
