Research

Our research group focuses on ciliate ecology, biodiversity and taxonomy in lakes. To understand the autecology of ciliates in planktonic food webs, we study these protists on an alpha-taxonomic level including morphological and molecular methods. We also focus on mixotrophic algal-bearing ciliates. For details on our current projects see www.ciliates.at and www.ciliatenets.com.
