Interreligious Education and Didactics of Religion (in cooperation with the Institute for Practical Theology)

The project "Interreligious Education as a Contribution to a Society Capable of Plurality" deals with the development of an evidence-based and multi-perspective interreligious religious education and didactics of religion. The linking of intra- and interreligious perspectives and the "four-eyes" research principle are forward-looking methodological principles in the project. By obtaining empirical data, the project aims to empirically investigate and further develop university teaching with an interreligious orientation, the supervision of school internships, and the interreligious attitudes of teachers. The results have relevance far beyond the school context. They should contribute to more plurality competence in education and society and thus promote peaceful coexistence.

The developments of recent years concerning Islam and Muslims in Europe are more than worrying in many respects. In order to make the approaches emerging in the context of the university debate accessible to the interested public, the Institute for Islamic Theology and Religious Education is working on an Internet platform.

The aim is to provide academically sound content on Islam, to answer questions and thus to offer an alternative source in order to counteract the one-dimensional and rather radical ideas on the Internet.
