Olaf Reimer

Professor of Experimental Physics
(Astro- and Particle Physics)

PhD 1995, University of Siegen

Olaf Reimer’s research interests can be made out at the intersection of astrophysics and particle physics, constituting the still young research branch of astroparticle physics. Production, acceleration, propagation, and interaction of cosmic particles yield observable signatures in the high-energy photons and non-photon messenger channels that help to understand the extreme Universe. The group collaborates in the instrument teams of the world’s most capable gamma-ray observatories on ground (H.E.S.S.), and in space (Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope), and is involved in the next generation astroparticle physics experiment, the Cherenkov Telescope Array. Furthermore, a particle physics group is involved in the ATLAS experiment at CERNs Large Hadron Collider.
