Micromechanics Conference - Obergurgl

10.02.-14.02.2019

It is a great pleasure to announce the International Conference on Micromechanics 2020at the Obergurgl conference center in Tyrol/Austria, in February 10-14, 2020. The conference is organized by the IQOQI Innsbruck, University of Vienna, Walther Meißner Institute Munich and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is chaired by Dr. Mathieu Juan and Prof. Gerhard Kirchmair from the Superconducting circuits lab.

The conference focuses on the recent progress in the field of quantum-micromechanics with a special focus on levitated systems and circuit QED implementations. Levitated systems allow for extremely high mechanical Q factors while circuit QED systems provide large coupling strength between the mechanics and the resonator. Combining both of these approaches open the door towards controlling and manipulating the quantum state of the mechanical system.

The venue, Obergurgl, is located in the Ötztal in Tyrol. It is a prominent skiing resort in winter and a nice and relaxing alpine resort in summer. The conference will be held at the University Centre Obergurgl, which is associated with the University of Innsbruck. The center provides a stimulating environment to bring together outstanding researchers and young scientists to present and discuss their most recent results and foster the development of novel ideas. Early career researchers, PostDocs and PhD students are encouraged to participate and apply for an oral or poster presentation.

The number of participants will be limited to about 85. We will inform you about your acceptance per e-mail. The conference package including 4-days in a double room with half board and transport from Innsbruck costs € 750.- (700.- for PhDs) and will be due after you have received the acceptance confirmation (latest 30.11.2019), which will contain also the bank connection. Your participation will be secured only after you have received notification of acceptance and we have received the conference fee from you.

We note that there are essentially only double rooms and triple rooms available at the Obergurgl conference center. The conference will take place during high season and the ski resort of Obergurgl is fully booked during that time. If you wish to have a single room (at a considerably higher price) or if you wish to bring along (an) accompanying person(s), please contact the conference organizers directly.
