What you need to know

A client allows you to synchronize data between individual devices and UNIverse, for example. You can also find an overview of this in the official Nextcloud manual: https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/user_manual/de/desktop/index.html

Click on your profile in the top right corner of the web interface.
Select Settings.
Click on Mobile & desktop.
Download the client for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android).
Enter https://universe.uibk.ac.at/ as the server address when logging in.

Set up synchronization

Open the client after installation.
Log in with your university credentials.
Select Add folder synchronization.
Select a folder on your computer (or create a new one).
Select which UNIverse folders you want to synchronize.
- You can synchronize the entire UNIverse storage space or only specific folders.
- Different folders can be synchronized to different locations.
Finish the setup – your files will now be synchronized automatically.

Virtual Files option (Windows/macOS only)

When this option is enabled, files are only downloaded when you open them (saves storage space).
When this option is disabled, files are stored locally in their entirety and are accessible offline.
Recommendation: Disable this option if you want offline access. Only enable it for very large data sets when storage space is limited.
