Location

The Institute of Mechatronics is part of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Innsbruck.
The Faculty is located in the west of Innsbruck close to the airport in Technikerstrasse 13.

The Power electronic department is located on the 1st floor in the buidling of civil engineering.

Arrival by train/ÖPNV

Innsbruck is well connected to the European railway network. The main connections are:

• Eurocity from Munich Central Station
• Railjet from Vienna via Linz and Salzburg
• Railjet from Zurich/ Bregenz
• Eurocity from Bologna/ Verona

Further information on the train connections including detailed timetables are available at http://www.oebb.at and http://www.bahn.de/. From the main station you continue on tram line 5 in the direction of Höttinger Au (alternative: Bus R towards Rehgasse, change at Fürstenweg to tram line 2). The nearest station to the institute is the bus stop Technik.

Arrival by car

Germany via Kufstein
Innsbruck can be reached from Germany via Kufstein using the Inntalautobahn A12 in the direction of Bregenz. From the exit Innsbruck-Kranebitten follow the description at the bottom of this page.

Germany via Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Innsbruck can also be reached via the German Autobahn A95 from Munich via Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After the end of the motorway at Eschenlohe follow the B2 road. At the border crossing in Scharnitz, the main road leads as B177 over the Zirler mountain upto Zirl. There you can either follow the main road B171 or the motorway A12 from the junction Zirl to the east towards Innsbruck. After reaching the junction Kranebitten follow the below description to the university.

Salzburg/ Linz/ Vienna
The best option to reach Innsbruck from Salzburg, Linz or Vienna is via the A8 (German Corner at Rosenheim).
If you achieve the Inntaldreieck take the motorway towards Kufstein.
Drive to the junction Innsbruck-Kranebitten. Then follow the description at the bottom of this page.  


Switzerland/ Vorarlberg
If you drive to Innsbruck from Switzerland or Vorarlberg, take the S16 expressway. In the east, the S16 flows into the Inntalautobahn A12. Follow the A12 until the exit of Innsbruck-Kranebitten. Then follow the description below.


Italy
You arrive Innsbruck by car from Italy via the Brenner motorway A13. At the junction of Innsbruck take the A12 in the direction of Landeck and continue to the Innsbruck-Kranebitten exit. From there follow the description below.

Leave the Inntalautobahn A12 at the motorway exit 83 Innsbruck-Kranebitten. Follow the signs to the airport / Innsbruck-Kranebitten. After about 1 km take the second exit of the roundabout to the Technikerstraße. After about 300 m you will find the university parking lots at the right. For using the employee parking lot, a chip is needed. The chargeable guest parking lot (see Figure 5) is open to everyone. In addition, there are paid parking spaces along the Technikerstraße.

Arrival by plane

Innsbruck has its own airport from which the major European hubs (Frankfurt, Vienna, etc.) are sometimes served several times a day. The journey from the airport takes about 5 minutes by taxi. Alternatively, you can take the F bus towards Baggersee and get off at the Angergasse. Then, take the bus line T towards EKZ-Cyta and get off at the Technik stop. The closest international airports are Munich Airport and Zurich Airport. These are connected by train (see section "train") with Innsbruck.
