ta21December 7, 2021 at 17:00: Mr. Benjamin Hirzinger, PhD will receive the Thesis Award 2021 of the Research Area Scientific Computing for his thesis "Contributions to Modeling and Reliability Assessment Strategies in Railway Bridge Dynamics" submitted to the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. Due to CoV-precautions, the ceremony will take place online, at a  BigBlueButton-room - please feel free to attend.  


ashpc22swMay 31 – June 2, 2022: The Austrian-Slovenian HPC Meeting 2022 - ASHPC22 will take place at the Seeblickhotel Grundlsee (AT) and online, preceded by the co-located EuroHPC Access and Hands-On  workshop. ASHPC22 will continue the tradition of the annual Austrian HPC Meetings (2015 – 2020) and the first Austrian-Slovenian HPC Meeting (2021): Bringing together scientists and technicians with a background and interest in supercomputing. Registration & call for abstracts OPEN, further information at  ashpc.at

Organized by the Research Area Scientific Computing and the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC), the school addresses participants from all scientific fields, communicating necessary programming paradigms and guiding towards correct and efficient code for GPUs.

PRACE Winter School 2020 - GPU Programming with CUDA
A part of this training course took place March 9, 2020 at the Campus Technik of the Unversity of Innsbruck. The course was organized by the Research Area Scientific Computing, University of Innsbruck and the VSC Research Center, TU Wien.

"On coin tosses, atoms and forest fires" - talk by Prof. Dr. Martin Hairer
The talk was held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the University of Innsbruck in the Kaiser-Leopold-Saal (Karl-Rahner-Platz 3). Martin Hairer is professor of mathematics at Imperial College London. In 2014 he was awarded the Fields Medal, one of the highest honors a mathematician can receive.
