Biography

Since November 2021, Thomas Menegotto has been a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Italian Law of the University of Innsbruck, sector of Civil Law, under the guidance of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Francesco A. Schurr.

After graduating from secondary school in Merano, Thomas Menegotto studied Italian law at the Leopold-Franzens-University in Innsbruck and at the Università degli Studi di Padova. He contributed to a handbook of Italian Private International Law as a student project assistant and completed his diploma studies with a comparative law thesis on the legal framework for innovative companies, which was funded by the lvh.apa.

Thomas Menegotto joined the law firm Thurin, Vinatzer, Zeller & Partner in Merano in 2017, initially as a trainee lawyer and since 2019 as a freelance lawyer. He is registered with the Bar Association of Bolzano. His professional practice focuses on civil and commercial law, mainly dealing with the law of obligations, real estate law, inheritance law, tort law and insolvency law.

Most recently, in 2020, Thomas Menegotto was a lecturer for the multi-day teaching blocks on civil and commercial law at a training course organised by the ANMIC Bolzano Association and the European Social Fund. Having worked as a freelance programmer in his study times, he is also interested in IT law questions.

For his doctoral project, he is working on the areas of inheritance law and business succession.
