Structure & Content

Winter semester (22,5 ECTS credits)

Entrepreneurial Competencies (5 ECTS)

Students visit startup events or innovative companies and can build up a valuable personal network. Further, students observe and analyze startups and reflect on the experiences gained to build entrepreneurial competencies.

Entrepreneurship 1 (5 ECTS)

The Entrepreneurship basic course aims to teach students basic knowledge about startups, business models, project management and the lean startup approach. The goal is to acquire a basic understanding of entrepreneurial thinking and acting and the application of methods during the founding process. A customer-oriented and problem-oriented thinking is to be established.

Fundamentals of Management: Strategy and Marketing (5 ECTS)

Strategy as guiding framework, contents of a basic strategy and its effects on internal and external environment of the organization, process of positioning, marketing as orientation, as strategy process and as instruments.

Elective Module (altogether 7.5 ECTS)

Can be chosen from a number of different subjects

Accounting 1: Financial Accounting (7,5 ECTS)

Fundamentals of book-keeping and financial accounting with a focus on annual financial statement acc. to national law: principles of proper accounting; recognition and valuation standards; information requirements; basic principles of balance sheet analysis

Accounting 2: Introduction to cost accounting (7,5 ECTS)

System of cost accounting, marginal costing, internal accounting and management

Information systems and digital transformation (7,5 ECTS)

Use of information and communication technologies in organizations, information structure and security, mapping of operational issues in models and systems, analysis design, documentation and implementation of information and communication systems, digital business models, technological foundations and the effects of digitization on society

Gender, Diversity and Management (7,5 ECTS)

Theoretical concepts for understanding the role of gender in management, possibilities and limits of company equality and diversity policy.

Integrated Management with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (7,5 ECTS)

Fundamentals of business management of enterprise-resource-planning systems, use of online ERP-systems

Corporate Sustainability (7,5 ECTS)

Strategic, organizational, systemic and ethical aspects of Corporate Sustainability (CS); economic social and environmental dimensions of CS; CS view of stakeholder perspective; sustainable design of different corporate functions

Corporate decision-making and social responsibility (7,5 ECTS)

Overview of typical structures and problems of business decisions in an economic and social context: decisions under uncertainty and risk, decisions in the multi-person context, decision heuristics, prospect theory, behavioral anomalies and their impact on society and possible ways to improve

Current Developments in the Economy and Society (7,5 ECTS)

Theoretical and empirical analysis of current economic topics

Summer semester (22,5 ECTS credits)

Product and Service Development (5 ECTS)

The Product and Service Development course provides students with skills for agile development of new and innovative products. The focus is on developing exceptional customer experiences. Furthermore, the course is accompanied by experienced personalities from the topics of intellectual property rights and prototype development.

Entrepreneurship 2 (7.5 ECTS)

Entrepreneurship 2 provides students with detailed and specific knowledge in the areas of market entry, scaling and validation of business models and transforming companies. Further, the topics organizational structures, investment, company value, key figures and team composition will be covered.

Company and Innovation Project (10 ECTS)

In this final project, students can found their own startup and pursue their business idea, they can manage an innovation project in an established company or complete an internship in a company. Together with the course instructors and the companies’ students learn how to implement coordinate and manage business ideas and projects. The focus is on applying theoretical competencies in practice by following the lean startup approach.
