Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing
The research group considers the design, analysis, and implementation of novel numerical methods for partial differential equations of interest in science and engineering. Our goal is to better understand and improve numerical methods and thus enable efficient computer simulation for problems ranging from plasma physics and dispersive problems (hyperbolic and highly oscillatory equations) to heat conduction and related models (parabolic equations). This requires techniques from functional analysis, geometric numerical integration, modeling, and scientific and high-performance computing.
