Thesis Projects
The Numerical Analysis group offers master thesis in all areas related to numerical analysis and computing, from the convergence analysis of splitting schemes to plasma physics simulation on large supercomputers. If you are interested in writing a master thesis in numerical analysis, modelling, scientific and high-performance computing, GPU computing, highly oscillatory problems, low-rank approximation, please contact Alexander Ostermann or Lukas Einkemmer.
A selection of ongoing and completed master thesis is below
- Control theory for industrial grinding machines (Ilse Schröcksnadel, in cooperation with Swarvoski)
- Matrix-free Leja based exponential integrators in Python (Maximimilian Samsinger)
- Entwicklung und Algorithmen für die Überwachung von Zerspanungsprozessen (Chris Rudolph, in cooperation
with MCU GmbH) - Modelling and numerical simulation of plasmodiophora brassicae (Stephanie Kollmann, in cooperation with the Department of Microbiology)
- Magnus integrators on graphics processing units (Naomi Auer)
We also offer the possibility to write a bachelor thesis in the group. For more information on possible topics see here.
Open PhD positions are announced in the news section of the website.
