KR9 2022 First Circular - Registration/Abstract Submission Open

KR9 2022 First Circular -Registration/Abstract Submission Open

In Innsbruck, we are pleased to announce that registration and abstract submission for the postponed Climate Change, The Karst Record (KR9), to be held between 18th to 20th July, 2022, with peripheral activities between 15th to 21st July, 2022, is now open. In the previous two summers, restrictions have lifted and life has nearly returned to normal in Austria, thus we are hopeful that the same will occur for 2022. Nevertheless, we appreciate that these are still challenging times and aim to host a combined in-person and online meeting. Naturally, for those attending in-person, we will be operating within the scope of the national and university COVID guidelines.

To submit an abstract and/or register for the conference, please visit https://www.uibk.ac.at/congress/kr9/registration/

Please note that this is a completely new registration process, therefore anyone who registered and submitted an abstract in 2020 will be required to do so again.

Highlights of the conference include:

15th - 16th July, 2022 - ‘Mini-S4’ (Summer School of Speleothem Science - note registration is separate)
17th July, 2022 - Fieldtrip to Spannagel cave and Nature's Ice Palace located on the Hintertux Glacier
17th July, 2022 - Icebreaker
18th - 20th July, 2022 - Main conference including workshops
20th July, 2022 - Conference dinner
21st July, 2022 - Fieldtrip to Eisriesenwelt cave

Please note:

  • we are aiming to be certified by Green Tirol as a "Green Event" meaning we’re reducing our impact on the environment by including a minimum of 50% vegetarian options, offering seasonal organic menus, not providing a printed programme or giveaways, and encouraging low-emission public transport;
  • childcare will be available on-site at no cost during the main conference;
  • awards will be given for best student poster and best student presentation;
  • financial support is available for early career researchers and those from low, lower middle, and upper middle income countries though we kindly request that people only apply for such funds if they really need it.

Important dates are as follows (https://www.uibk.ac.at/congress/kr9/information/#dates):
1st March 2022 - deadline for financial support
1st March 2022 - abstract submission deadline
1st April 2022 - early-bird registration deadline
15th May 2022 - childcare registration deadline
31st May 2022 - regular registration and fieldtrip registration deadline

Fieldtrips and workshops have a participant limit. In order to guarantee your place, we recommend booking early. The organisers also reserve the right to cancel the fieldtrips if there is not enough interest. Please note also that July is high-season in Innsbruck. We therefore recommend booking accommodation early.
