The Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture has taken a new path with “Writer in Residence”, an exciting program connecting literature to research and teaching. Each summer semester, an author stays in Innsbruck for a month, enriching the University’s diversity as well as cultural life in Innsbruck.

The Writer in Residence is selected by the faculty as follows: Each department submits one or several proposals describing the originality and quality of each candidate and how he or she would enrich teaching at the University as well as the literary scene in Innsbruck. These proposals are assessed and ranked by a jury. The Faculty Council then submits the chosen proposal to the Dean of Faculty for approval.
