East Africa has become a pivotal arena in global trade and geopolitical competition. This monograph analyzes the European Union’s trade policy in the region, focusing on the EU–Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). It assesses the agreement’s implications for regional integration within the EAC and AfCFTA, and the effectiveness of human rights and sustainability clauses. The study argues that the EU will only remain influential in East Africa if it adopts a more flexible, regionally grounded, and strategically coherent approach.
