85 new hall of residence rooms created

Newly created for you!
On 13 December 2016 the ground-breaking ceremony for the new hall of residence in the Kranebitter Allee took place. The Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) Innsbruck demands the development of living space for students, as only creating long term living accommodation for students in Innsbruck will make it cheaper in the long term. The residence is financed by the private Raimund Pradler foundation, which promotes students with little financial means. With this new students’ residence 85 additional rooms for students will be available in Innsbruck.

ÖH-demand: 800,000€ for students

The ÖH Innsbruck has succeeded in attaining a bridging subsidy for students who no longer receive benefits for rent, as of January 2017. Intensive talks between the ÖH Innsbruck and the town of Innsbruck led to the decision to provide a “bridging subsidy” reserve with a figure of 800,000€ available for students. The ÖH demanded specific support for students, because unlike other sections of the population, it is a lot more difficult for them to obtain minimum collateral or social benefits. The group of students, which haven’t yet been in Innsbruck for 3 years, is especially severely affected by the waiting time for rent benefits. The town’s council has met this demand with a resolution on the provision of this special bridging subsidy reserve on 17 November 2016.

Achieved for you!

Hard facts:

  • • You no longer receive rent benefits because of the introduction of the waiting time?

  • • We have held talks: As of 1 January 2017 you can file your request for the bridging subsidy from the town of Innsbruck.

  • • Please note the regulations and deadlines.

The forms for requesting the bridging subsidy are available at the ÖH’s office and are also available online

In case of questions, you can contact the ÖH-Sozialreferat social services (Mail: sozial@oeh.cc) anytime!
