Thesaurus

Since 2007, intensive work and research has been carried out on optimising digital documentation within the Special Research Area HiMAT and the research centre that later emerged from it. One of the products is the so-called HiMAT thesaurus, which organises all terms related to the study of mining in Tyrol and adjacent areas in a hierarchy. In the course of the present project it was possible to integrate this thesaurus into the Dariah Backbone Thesaurus in order to make it usable outside the research centre and accessible to a wider public. In order to improve comparability, the terms were also matched with the Getty Arts & Architecture Thesaurus (AAT) for topics and the PeriodO Temporal Gazeteer for chronological information and their identifiers were added.
