Introduction of the minimum requirement of study progress
Students taking a new or additional Bachelor’s or Diploma Programme are obliged to complete at least 16 ECTS-Credits in the first four registered semesters. This rule applies from the winter semester 2022/2023 onwards for new enrolments and students who change their Bachelor's or Diploma Programme. Examination and other study achievements must therefore be submitted by 31 October (if the fourth semester enrolled is a summer semester) or 31 March (if the fourth semester enrolled is a winter semester). For the calculation of the number of ECTS-Credits, the time of completion of the minimum requirement of study progress is decisive. If the minimum requirement of study progress not achieved, admission to the study programme expires on 1 November or 1 April. A new admission to this degree programme is possible after two academic years.
This provision does not affect students with a disability in accordance with § 3 BGStG.

Studies Induction and Orientation Stage (StEOP)
Admission to the study programme expires if the student has not passed the mandatory StEOP-examinations even after the last permissible repetition. The study programme can thus no longer be taken up again at the university involved. A suspension of three semesters with the possibility of subsequent re-admission like it was previously possible no longer applies.

Change in general admission period - payment of Austrian student's union fee/tuition fees - elimination of extension period
The extension period (until 30 November or 30 April) is no longer applicable. For the regular registration of studies, the Austrian student’s union fee or tuition fee must in future be paid by 31 October for the winter semester and by 31 March for the summer semester. These deadlines also apply to students whose graduation would fall within the previous extension period. All relevant deadlines can be found at https://www.uibk.ac.at/studium/organisation/studium/#termine.
Example 1: I will complete my studies by 31 October 2024 at the latest. My last exam is scheduled for the end of October. Do I still have to pay my tuition fee for the winter semester 2024/2025?
NO.
Example 2: I will probably finish my studies at the end of October 2024. However, the date of the last exam has not yet been set. Do I still have to pay my tuition fee for the winter semester 2024/2025?
YES. If you complete your studies by 31 October 2024 at the latest, you can apply for a tuition fee refund.
