About the Department of European Law and Public International Law
The Department was founded in 1956 and last renamed in 2006. It is renowned for research and teaching in the fields of European Law, Public International Law and International Economic Law.
The Department comprises about 20 researchers, who are divided into three teams. The two teams are led by the professors Walter Obwexer and Werner Schroeder.
Three times per semester, the Department convenes evening seminars that provide a platform for leading scholars and practitioners to address topical issues in European Law, Public International Law and International Economic Law. The seminars are open to scholars from inside and outside the university and to the general public.
