2012 several textile fragments were recovered en block at the Hinteres Freudental, municipality Grosskirchheim, Carinthia. After cleaning it turned out that these were parts of a men´s hose made of wool. The cut of the hose corresponds to patterns of the late 15th and 16th centuries. However, in this case the hose was composed of numerous smaller parts in order to use every little scrap of fabric. The pieces were once sewn together with linen thread that for the most part however is not preserved. Therefore the parts are no longer assembled.

On 5 and 6 December 2015 Jane Malcolm-Davies and Ninya Mikhaila from The Tudor Tailor visited the Institute of Archaeology in Innsbruck to provide technical assistance with the reconstruction of the hose. In the course of this visit it was possible to reassemble parts of the brown outer fabric as well as parts of the blue lining. With the help of tracings this work is still in progress and will hopefully lead to more fragments being identified and repositioned.
