Family Allowance
The family allowance is one of the most important pillars of the Austrian family support system. As a direct support paid to eligible persons, costs that arise parents from their obligation to support their children, are compensated. In principle only parents can apply for family allowance for Austrian students, since they are the ones generally entitled to this allowance. An application for family allowance must be filed with the respective local tax office.
