Family Service: reconciliation of work/study and family

Dear students, the Family Service team at the University of Innsbruck wish to facilitate the reconciliation of work/study and family, and are available to assist you in all matters relating to children, childcare and caring for relatives.

After prior appointment, we advise and inform you about the different forms of childcare, legal matters and financial support for families and caregivers or refer you to the appropriate university and non-university institutions. We also provide various childcare services!

Flexible child-care in the SpielRäumen

In the SpielRäume children (6 months to 10 years) of students and employees at the University of Innsbruck can be looked after by qualified experts on an hourly basis – e.g. for attending a lecture or seminar.

Annually at the start of the semester  - on the Open Day - interested parents have the opportunity to learn all about the offers provided by the flexible care institution, visit the rooms, get to know the personnel and arrange for dates for the free familiarisation week. The next Open Day will take place in February 2021, the exact date will be published on our homepage in good time.

Holiday care

We organise a week of holiday care during the winter semester break for children of university members from an age of 3-10 years as well as a varied 7-week holiday programme during the summer break. The next holiday programme during the semester break takes place from 8 – 12 February 2021. Registration opens in early January in the Family Services. More details will be published on our homepage in good time.

Babysitter exchange

The Family Service offers all members of the University of Innsbruck a Babysitter Exchange, which offers parents a fast and uncomplicated means of contact with babysitters. Students can obtain a list with babysitters on request either by mail or they can pick it up at the Family Service.

Support in times of Corona

The Corona crisis poses special challenges for students with children and working parents. Special times require special measures, which is why the family service team organised additional support offers during the summer holidays. The holiday programme was extended by two weeks and the age limit raised from 10 to 12 years. In addition, for the first time, the SpielRäume were open throughout the summer, which was also gratefully accepted by many student parents. You will always find the latest information about our offer on our homepage.

Contact and information
