Research interests
Harald’s research interests relate to global strategy and international finance. In particular, he is intrigued by firms’ approaches to manage risks in the global business environment and how they generate opportunities based on these uncertainties. Within this area, he tries to connect a financial perspective on external markets with a strategy view on internal markets.
In addition, Harald is fascinated by novel methodologies that explore new and innovative sources of data. Together with WU Vienna’s Jakob Müllner, he collaborates on the globaltrends project that uses data from Google Trends to measure the internationalization of firms, individuals, products, and social phenomena. As part of this project, he developed the globaltrends package for R.
