Our Research
The Department of Christian Philosophy is an internationally networked research center comprising experts in a wide array of philosophical areas, including such as metaphysics, ontology, epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, as well as also Logic, Ethics, feminist philosophy, and moral psychology. The Department has gained international recognition for its research both in philosophy in general and in interdisciplinary cooperation with theological disciplines. The Department is committed to the analytic philosophical method, characterized by conceptual and logical clarity. Open dialogue, constructive debate, and interdisciplinary collaboration have pride of place in the Department.
One of the Department’s primary research interests is philosophy of religion, which concerns itself not only with the nature of religion and the the rationality of religious faith, but more broadly with different worldviews and our orientation in the world. Far from restricting one’s philosophical gaze to the Christian domain, the Department’s aim is to open dialogue with the other worldviews, both secular and religious, and to foster social and political responsibility.
