Library and equipment

Due to the history of the Centre for Eastern European Studies, its library focuses on Russia, Russian culture, literature and language. The collection is constantly being expanded and currently comprises around 1,250 books: fiction, children's and youth literature, textbooks, books on history, art, regional studies and geography, encyclopaedias and other reference materials. The books can be viewed in the catalogue of the University and State Library Tyrol (search portal BibSearch) and can be borrowed during the opening hours of the centre. The library also has a small media collection of approximately 330 data carriers (films, electronic textbooks, encyclopaedias, art guides, etc.).

Thanks to a generous donation from the Ukrainian Embassy in Vienna, which the Centre for Eastern European Studies and the University and State Library Tyrol received through the "Ukrainian Community Tyrol" association, a small collection of Ukrainian books was added to our reference library in 2022. This is part of the project "Українська книжкова поличка" [Ukrainian Bookshelf] under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. The books are aimed equally at children, young people and adults and include works by Ukrainian authors as well as translations into Ukrainian. The approximately 145 books can be viewed via an online list and can also be borrowed for free.

The premises of the Centre for Eastern European Studies, like all other facilities of the International Services at the University of Innsbruck, are located in the Claudiana in Innsbruck's old town – in the historic Old Government Building in Herzog-Friedrich-Straße. The main room is equipped with a video conferencing system for meetings and smaller events (please direct enquiries and bookings to the staff of the Centre for Eastern European Studies). In the adjoining room there are 3 computers available for visitors and students.
