Opening/Closing Times

  • Shops generally open at 8:00am and close at 6:00pm on weekdays. Some shops are closed Saturday afternoons; all shops (except some tourist shops) are closed on Sundays.
  • Supermarkets usually open at 8:00am and close at 7:30pm. On Saturdays, they open at 8:00am and close at 6:00pm. They are closed on Sundays except the M-Preis supermarket at the main train station and the Nah and Frisch supermarket within the clinic areal.
  • Shopping mall Kaufhaus Tyrol (Maria-Theresien-Straße 31): groceries: 8:00am to 8:00pm on weekdays, 8:00am-6:00pm on Saturdays, closed on Sundays; all other shops: Monday through Wednesday: 9:00am-7:00pm, Thursdays and Fridays: 9:00am to 8:00pm; Saturdays: 9:00am-6:00pm; closed on Sundays.

There are a number of cafes in Innsbruck’s old town. Usually, they also serve snacks and pastries. Tips for ordering a coffee in Austria: A Verlängerter will get you a regular coffee, a Milchkaffee will get you a regular coffee with milk, a Cappuccino will get you an espresso coffee with frothy milk, a Latte Macchiato will get you an espresso coffee with milk and added froth.


Posting Letters

Stamps are sold at post offices, tourist shops and tobacconists. You can post your letters and post cards in the post boxes outside the post office and at many corners in downtown Innsbruck. The main post office is located at Innrain 15 and its hours of operation are from 8:00am to 6:00pm Mondays through Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.

Internet cafes are rare in Innsbruck. The best way is to access the internet from your hotel, as hotels usually provide internet access. Nevertheless, here are a few addresses for internet cafes:
