Travel: How to get to Innsbruck?

Arrival by plane

There is an airport in Innsbruck (Flughafen Innsbruck). Innsbruck airport is best reached via stopovers at larger airports such as Vienna and Frankfurt-am-Main. However, flights tend to be relatively expensive and infrequent, especially during summer. We would generally recommend that conference participants make use of the airport in Munich (Germany), which is 2 hours away by train or car.

There is a shuttle service provided by the agency Four Seasons Travel (https://www.tirol-taxi.at), which will pick you up from Munich airport and take you to the hotel in Innsbruck or back to the airport at an affordable price (approximately 100 EUR).

To get from Innsbruck airport to the city centre and the conference venue, you can take the bus F (approximately 3 EUR). The bus F runs about every 30 minutes during the day and reaches the city centre in 15 minutes. For the conference venue (Innrain 52a), get off at the stop Klinik/Universität.

Arrival by train

Innsbruck is best reached by train; there are plenty of train routes from Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Innsbruck's main train station (Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof) is located close to the city centre and is about a 15-minute walk from the city centre and about 20 minutes from the conference venue (Innrain 52a).

From the main station you can reach the conference venue by taking the direct bus lines F (direction Flughafen) or R (direction Rehgasse) or the tram line 5 (direction Technik West). Get off at the stop Klinik/Universität.

Arrival by bus

Innsbruck can likewise be easily reached by bus, especially when travelling from Germany, Italy and Switzerland. FlixBus offers a range of routes at affordable prices, starting at approximately 20 EUR. The FlixBus stop is located between Innsbruck's main (Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof) and west train stations. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the main station and about 20 minutes to get to the city centre. The current timetables can be found at https://www.flixbus.at.

Arrival by car

The best way to get to the conference venue and on to the city centre is to take the Innsbruck-West freeway exit, Egger-Lienz-Straße and then Innerkofler-Straße.
