Information on the admission procedure prior to admission to the English-language Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies in the academic year 2024/2025
Online admission test on 17th April 2024
The registration for the admission procedure for the Master's Programme Peace and Conflict Studies expired on 15th March 2024. No more late registrations for the academic year 2024/2025 are possible, without any exceptions.
105 appilicants have registered.
The number of applicants registered by 15th March 2024 exceeds the number of study places determined in the University of Innsbruck bulletin (30). Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a online admission test.
The written test will take place on 17th April 2024. All applicants with a valid registration were informed on 10th April 2024 by message via the LFU:online account ("My forms" "Inbox"). If you have not received a message despide successful registration, please contact aufnahmeverfahren-neu@uibk.ac.at.

If you are interested in the English-language Master’s Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies, please note the following general conditions: The University of Innsbruck provides 30 study places for the Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies per academic year for first-year students.

In order to get one of these study places, you have to take the following steps:
Admission procedure - process:
Electronic registration, letter of motivation and payment of the cost contribution: 1st February to 15th March 2024
- Registration/application for admission procedure before admission.
- You enter your data into the system and upload a letter of motivation of max. 4,000 characters (incl. spaces) outlining which competencies qualify you for the Master's Programme in terms of diversity and internationality, which motives led you to apply, and which interests and expectations you have with regard to the Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies.
IMPORTANT: If parts of your letter of motivation are cut off during upload, please send your letter via E-Mail to: aufnahmeverfahren-neu@uibk.ac.at - You then pay the fee of € 50,-- and thus complete the application as a student applicant for the Master's programme in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Innsbruck.
- After completing the data entry, uploading the motivation letter and paying the fee, you can print your registration confirmation.
- To complete your admission, please upload your documents via LFU:online (under the tab "my study applications") on time. Please note that Non-EEA citizens must have submitted the documents completely by 15th May 2024.
Online admission test (written, in English) on 17th April 2024
In case more than 30 applicants register for the Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Innsbruck within the given registration period, a written online admission test in English will take place on 17th April 2024 (from 3 pm to 4:30 pm (Central European Time)). You will be informed about the further procedure by e-mail after the end of the registration and application period and will also receive a link to the online admission test.
The online admission test is administered in written form and consists of study-relevant knowledge and comprehension questions that are set at the level of bachelor graduates. The exam takes a maximum of 90 minutes (1.5 hours).

The ranking of the results of the online admission test is undertaken by a commission. The ranking is based on a point system according to the following criteria: adequate reproduction (replicating, structuring and processing content); coherent reflection (interpretation, discussion and evaluation of topics); systematic transfer (linking, comparing and applying knowledge).
A fully completed entrance test is a prerequisite for the invitation to the online admission interview.
Online admission interview (oral, in English) on 24th/25th April 2024
After the online admission test, the applicants will be informed about the result by email. Up to a maximum of 50 of the best ranked applicants will be invited to a oral online admission interview in English. The written invitation to the online admission interview will be sent after the admission tests have been corrected. The exact date, time and technical medium to be used will be announced. The dates of the online interviews will also be published on this homepage.
The online admission interview serves to introduce the applicants personally and to convey their interests in the Master's Programme Peace and Conflict Studies. The online admission interview lasts a maximum of 30 minutes (0.5 hours).
The final ranking of the applicants is done by the commission on the basis of the written online admission test and the study-relevant competences stated in the letter of motivation by means of a point system as well as the result of the online admission interview.
If less than 30 applicants register, only the online admission interview will take place. In this case, the applicants will not be ranked.
Please note
Admission to the Master's Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies is only possible if you achieve a rank within the available 30 study places in the admission procedure in the academic year 2024/2025 and have completed an eligible Bachelor's programme. The equivalence of your Bachelor's degree can only be verified with the complete degree documents. Please inquire in time at the admission department of the University of Innsbruck.
We ask that those applicants who require special aid or assistance (e.g., severe visual impairment, hearing aids, barrier-free access, other physical and mental impairments) contact the Office of the Disability Officer no later than 15th March 2024, so that we may make the necessary arrangements.
