Peter Trummer is Professor for Urban Design & Urban Planning at the University of Innsbruck, where he served as Head of the Institute of Urban Design - IOUD from 2010 to 2021 and is currently Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. He is a Visiting Professor for Architectural Design and Architectural Theory at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and was a Guest Professor at the Städelschule In Frankfurt from 2016 to 2021 and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2009. He lectured at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design from 2011 to 2016 and was Head of the Associative Design Program at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam from 2004 to 2010.

Trummer received his Master Degree at the Technical University in Graz under the supervision of Günther Domenig and his Postgraduate Degree at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam in 1997. He finished his PhD work “The City as a Technical Being”, supervised by Sanford Kwinter, at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He established his own practice as an architect, researcher, and educator in 2001.

He exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2006 and 2012 and presented his recent work at the Seoul Biennale 2019 and the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York in 2019-2020. He has been invited as a lecturer and a critic to the AA in London, the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, the Cooper Union in New York, IAAC in Barcelona, the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, the Harvard GSD in Cambridge Massachusetts, the School of Architecture at Princeton University, Rice University in Houston, SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven.
