Scholarships
There are several scholarship options for a semester or a year abroad at the University of New Orleans:
NEW ORLEANS JUBILEE-SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarships are awarded to Innsbruck students in order to facilitate a study visit at the University of New Orleans.
Prerequisites:
- EU citizens
- Students of the University of Innsbruck, who applied for a place at the UNO and got it
- Good academic results
- Diversity of subjects
- Financial situation
Amount:
Four scholarships amounting to Euro 2500.- each can be awarded per semester (eight scholarships per year in total).
Duration of funding: 4 months for a semester, 8 months for two semesters
The scholarship is granted after the nomination by the Rector’s appointee.

- A complete transcript of records is required. Only complete transcripts are accepted (all grades must be included, even fails!)
- Preliminary notice of recognition (Vorausbescheid) by the Study Dean
All documents must be submitted in triplicate (original, copy, and PDF) to the Center New Orleans. The PDF can be sent via email to the Center New Orleans.

NICK MÜLLER FELLOWSHIP
Every year, the State of Tyrol and the City of Innsbruck award a scholarship in honour of Prof. Gordon "Nick" Müller, the founder of the UNO Innsbruck International Summer School and co-founder of the UNO Innsbruck University Partnership. Gordon "Nick" Müller also founded the Center Austria at the UNO in 1997. Today, he is the Director of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. The aim of the research fellowship is to enable Innsbruck or Tyrolean students to complete a research stay at the UNO.
Prerequisites:
- Tyrolean
- Student of the University of Innsbruck
- Advanced studies
- Working on diploma or master thesis or dissertation, ideally focusing on a research topic related to the USA
- Stay of two semesters at the UNO (August-May)
- 10 hours of work per week at the Center Austria
- Written final report
Amount:
€ 10,000 (provided by the City of Innsbruck and Tyrol)

CENTER AUSTRIA FELLOWSHIP
The Center Austria at the University of New Orleans annually awards a scholarship for students of the University of Innsbruck who would like to go to the UNO for two semesters. The fellowship is very well received and also enables you to work at the University of New Orleans.
Prerequisites:
- Students of the University of Innsbruck (Bachelor, Master, Diploma and teacher training programs, but no doctoral students!)
- Stay of two semesters at the UNO (August-May)
- Attending courses at the UNO (no research fellowship)
- 20 hours of work per week at the Center Austria (support of the Innsbruck students and co-organization of the Center Austria events)
- Good computer skills
- Good English skills
Amount:
The wages will be paid based on a 20 hour week at the Center Austria at a rate of $14.50 per hour before deductions.

NEW ORLEANS DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The Federal Ministry advertises this fellowship for study and research at the Center Austria of the University of New Orleans. This fellowship is awarded once a year. It commits to 20 hours of work per week at the Center (co-ordination and networking tasks, assisting with the publication of "Contemporary Austrian Studies" and preparation of the annual conference).
Prerequisites:
- Diploma or Master studies completed at an Austrian university
- Ongoing doctoral studies in history, American studies or Political Science at an Austrian university (preferably "American-Austrian / Central European Relations")
- Excellent computer and English skills
- The candidate may not be abroad to realize the intended study project at the time the fellowship is awarded and must have his / her residence in Austria during the academic year of application (ie no stays abroad of more than six months)
Amount:
monthly amount of 1,620 euros (for 10 months) - Supplementary grant; own funds necessary

MARSHALL PLAN SCHOLARSHIP
The extremely well-endowed Marshall Plan Scholarship of the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation aims at students of all technical sciences who are considering research in the USA for their master's / diploma or dissertation work. The minimum stay must be three months (maximum funding period is 5 months).
