Dr. Nina Trunk
(1978 - 2010)

On 28th September 2010, Dr. Nina Trunk, née Adelmann, passed away following a tragic horse riding accident.

Nina was an academic assistant to the Chair in Insurance Law at the University of Mannheim from 2006 until 2008 and a research assistant to the Project Group from 2006 until 2007. Her doctoral thesis concerning abusive clauses in insurance contracts was awarded the highest grade, a “summa cum laude” honour.

Nina was the draftsperson of Articles 1:301 (Injunctions; together with H. Heiss) and 2:304 (Abusive Clauses; together with B. Dufwa) of the Principles of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL) as well as the accompanying Comments. Together with L. Loacker, she also translated the PEICL into German. Her contributions were published in the “Principles of European Insurance Contract Law” in 2009.

Furthermore, she assisted the Project Group with extremely valuable research on issues of comparative insurance contract law. The Project Group wishes to express its deep-felt gratitude to Nina. We will always honour her memory.

We would like to express our sadness and sincere condolences to Nina’s family, especially her husband, Christian, and her young son, Dominik.

On behalf of the Project Group
Prof. Dr. Helmut Heiss, University of Zurich
