the Family Services team at the University of Innsbruck wish to facilitate the reconciliation of work/study and family and are available to assist you in all matters relating to children, childcare and caring for relatives.
After prior appointment, we advise and inform you about the different forms of childcare, legal matters and financial support for families and caregivers, or refer you further to the appropriate institutions. We also provide various childcare services:
Flexible child-care in the SpielRäume
In the SpielRäume children (6 months to 10 years) of students and employees at the University of Innsbruck can be looked after by qualified experts on an hourly basis – e.g. for attending a lecture or seminar.

Babysitter exchange
Do you already know our Babysitter Exchange? It offers qualified babysitters, who can support you with child-care at home. You can obtain a list with babysitters on request either by mail or you can pick it up at our office!
Play corner for children in the library lounge
To make studying with a child easier and to facilitate your stay at the campus, a play corner was opened in the library lounge (passage between the old building and the new building) in autumn 2021.
The Family Services team has put together small cases filled with books, toys, colouring and crafts materials that can be borrowed at the library counter upon presentation of the student or library card. Right next to the play corner, a table is reserved especially for learning parents.
Online lecture “Men in Care - Vater sein ist nicht schwer?!”
(It’s not difficult to be a father – lecture in German)
The Austria-wide university network of UniKid-UniCare Austria offers interesting, free lectures on various care topics as part of its “CAREseiten zeigen” programme. On 29 November 2022, from
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. the network will be dedicated to the topic of fathers.
