Familiy Service

the Family Service team at the University of Innsbruck wish to facilitate the reconciliation of work/study and family, and are available to assist you in all matters relating to children, childcare and caring for relatives.

After prior appointment, we advise and inform you about the different forms of childcare, legal matters and financial support for families and caregivers or refer you to the appropriate university and non-university institutions. We also provide various childcare services:

Coming soon!

The university wants to make the campus more family-friendly. To make studying with children even easier for you, a children's play area will soon be opening in the library lounge (passage from the old building to the new building).

Flexible child-care in the SpielRäumen

In the SpielRäume children (6 months to 10 years) of students and employees at the University of Innsbruck can be looked after by qualified experts on an hourly basis – e.g. for attending a lecture or seminar. In order to accommodate you during these challenging Corona times, the SpielRäume will remain open during the entire summer.

More information on procedures, familiarisation and possibilities to contact us are available at: www.uibk.ac.at/familienservice/service-uni/spielraeume

Holiday care

We organise a week of holiday care during the winter semester break for children of university members from an age of 3-10 years as well as a varied holiday programme during the summer break which has been expanded from seven to nine weeks due to the huge demand.
If possible, we will increase our staff in the SpielRÄume on school-free/school-autonomous days to be able to look after additional children.

Babysitter exchange

The Family Service offers all members of the University of Innsbruck a Babysitter Exchange, which offers parents a fast and uncomplicated means of contact with babysitters. Students can obtain a list with babysitters on request,s either by mail or they can pick it up at the Family Service.

Care information events

The number of people in need of care in Austria is increasing. More and more people have to combine their job and/or studies with looking after relatives in need. Since the University of Innsbruck would also like to increase its focus on this topic, the Family Service team offers free information events on care topics from this autumn onwards. Lectures are aimed at all affected and interested members of the university.

The first event will take place in cooperation with the Department for Caring Relatives of the Caritas Tirol on 3 November on 5:00 p.m. – probably at the Claudiasaal hall.
An additional event, together with the Dementia-Service-Centre of the Caritas is planned for 16 December!

More information will be announced on our website in good time. It is worth stopping by every now and then!
