Thomas Ussmueller received both his Dipl.-Ing. Degree and Dr.-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. In 2006, he joined the Institute for Electronics Engineering as Research Assistant. Following a promotion in 2007, he was holding the positions as Teaching Fellow and Head of the Chip Design Group in his lab. Since 2014 he is employed as University Professor at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, leading the group of Microelectronics and Implantable Systems. His research interests include circuits and systems for Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID), analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter design and analog signal conditioning circuits. Furthermore he is specialized in radio frequency integrated circuit design for ultrawideband and cellular applications. He (co-)authored 1 book, 4 book chapters and more than 90 technical publications. Some of them have been acknowledged with best paper awards.
Thomas Ussmueller is a member of IEEE MTT-S, SSCS and the German Society of Microelectronics, Microsystems and Precision Engineering (VDE/VDI GMM). He is active in the following MTT-S committees: Digital Signal Processing (MTT-9), Radio Frequency Identification (MTT-24) and Wireless Energy Transfer and Conversion (MTT-26). From 2013 to 2017 he chaired the MTT-24 committee. He is engaged as associate editor for the IEEE MTT-S Microwave and Wireless Component Letters since 2016.

After finishing the HTL in Innsbruck in 2006, Michael Renzler completed his Bachelor's degree in physics at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck which he graduated in 2010. He spent the postgraduate studies of physics in Innsbruck and Linköping (Sweden). In the course of his Master's thesis in 2013, Michael dealt with the "extraction of small ions from charged helium nano-droplets". The PhD position at the Institute of Ion Physics and Applied Physics in the Nano-Bio-Physics group followed in the same year. In September 2016, he completed his PhD studies dealing with "electron interaction with (doped) helium nanodroplets" in his dessertation. Since October 2016, Michael holds a postdoc position at the Institute of Mechatronics in the field of Microelectronics and Implantable Systems. His research focuses on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) measurements. Michael Renzler is the co-author of more than ten publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Georg Saxl was born in Innsbruck in 1990. After graduating from the HTL for electronics and computer engineering in Innsbruck, he began his Bachelor studies in mechatronics at the University of Innsbruck in cooperation with the UMIT in Hall, which he completed as a Bachelor of Science in 2013. In the same year, he started his Master studies in Mechatronics at the University of Innsbruck. In 2016 he received the degree of graduate engineer. Since October 2016, Georg Saxl is working as a research associate at the Institute of Mechatronics in the Microelectronics and Implantable Systems Department and is completing his doctoral studies in the field of technical sciences. His research focus lies on chip design for the development of passive wireless sensor networks. Georg Saxl teaches the bachelor courses "Digital and Semiconductor Circuit Design" as well as "Components and Basic Circuits".
