Research Objectives

The Research Centre “Health and Prevention over the Life Span” connects major disciplines at the Department of Psychology, the Department of Sport Science and external cooperation partners at the Medical University of Innsbruck that focus on prevention and health-related research.

As the overarching model of the Research Centre “Health and Prevention over the Life Span” a bio-psycho-social model is postulated. A common base of the participating departments is the development of methods and research on processes that enable prosocial behaviour, humane conditions, mental and physical health and resilience.

The overall aim is to identify risk and protective factors that are relevant for maintaining or recovering (regenerating) mental and physical health in different age groups (childhood, youth, age) by using diverse methods from the various disciplines (e.g. psychological, diagnostic, quantitative, qualitative, neuroscientific, biological, neurophysiological and sport physiological approaches).

With the expertise of the different departments, we intend to achieve sustainable synergies, which contribute to the international visibility and profile of the faculty, we aim to establish concrete links to the Life and Health Science Cluster Tirol and to strengthen the scientific cooperation with the Medical University of Innsbruck.
