New FWF Elise Richter project at the interface of urban and mountain meteorology

The SCHiRM* project, lead by Dr. Helen C. Ward, will focus on establishing very high resolution simulations for cities in mountainous terrain. Using Innsbruck as an example, the simulations will span multiple scales to capture both urban effects (e.g. flow around individual buildings) and the impact of the surrounding terrain (e.g. valley winds). These cutting-edge simulations will be combined with a range of observational datasets to advance current understanding of turbulent processes that determine weather and climate.
