Research Centre High Performance Computing

Head

Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Alexander Ostermann (Institute of Mathematics, Numerical Analysis)

Research Objectives

Simulation on supercomputers, parallel and distributed computing, and visualisation of huge amounts of data are essential methods in scientific work of several research groups at the LFU Innsbruck. The complexity of the applications requires computationally intensive processes. Implementation of efficient algorithms and visualisation of complex structures lead to complex organisational and scientific problems.

Use of information technology and exchange of know-how guarantees an efficient use of resources, optimal training of students and high quality interdisciplinary research. The methods and techniques developed in this process shall be made available not only to researchers at the LFU Innsbruck, but also to technology and industry.
