Research Center on Federalism – Politics and Law
Head
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anna Gamper (Department of Public Law, State and Administrative Theory)
Deputy Head
Univ.-Prof. DDr. Günther Pallaver (Department of Political Science)
Research Objectives
For decades, federalism has been a traditional focus of research at the University of Innsbruck. The Research Centre on Federalism was established in order to help researchers to share and strengthen their research.
The members of the Centre are either scholars of law (Austrian, Italian and comparative public law, public international and European law, legal history) or scholars of political science whose respective approaches and methodology benefit each other in a trans- and interdisciplinary way.
Beyond the University of Innsbruck, these researchers closely cooperate with national and international research centres on federalism (e.g., the Institute of Federalism at Innsbruck; the Institute for Comparative Federalism at EURAC; the European Centre of Research on Federalism, University of Tübingen) as well as with renowned researchers on federalism from across the world (inter alia, members of IACFS, IPSA or IACL). These international colleagues are regularly invited as lecturers to our annual “Winter School on Federalism and Governance” for which the unique location of the research centre within the European Region of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino offers an ideal framework.
