Short Course for Voluntary Language Assistants - in Cooperation with the Department of subject-specific Education
Alongside the team of full-time teachers, voluntary language assistants are an essential part of the project „Deutsch für Asylwerbende“ [“German for Asylum Seekers”] which was launched by GemNova Dienstleistungs GmbH in January 2016. In cooperation with the City of Innsbruck and the Innsbruck Diocesan Institution Haus der Begegnung, this short course is an opportunity to learn from experts who share their basic theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching German as a foreign or second language to voluntary language assistants working with asylum seekers. The Area of Language Education within the Department of subject-specific Education also contributed to the project: Univ.-Prof. Barbara Hinger has developed the third module of the course, which introduces a wide range of information regarding language acquisition and its practical application, as well as alternative methods of foreign and second language teaching, such as Asher’s TPR (Total Physical Response; see image on the right). For further information concerning the short course programme, please visit the GemNova Website: http://gemnova.at/deutschkurse.html.
