In addition to the general admission requirements, some Bachelor's and Diploma programmes also require proof of additional qualifications. As part of the online degree programme application, we will check whether you have these or whether you need to take an additional/admission examination. If you have to take an examination, you will find the information on the programme sheet.

Glossary

Biology and Environmental Protection/Natural Sciences

The additional examination Biology and Environmental Protection is not required,

  • if natural sciences, biology or biology in combination with other subjects have been successfully completed after the 8th grade at a secondary school for at least four hours per week.

Proof is provided by the school reports as part of the online application.

Descriptive geometry

The additional examination in Descriptive Geometry is not required,

  • if this subject was successfully completed after the 8th grade at a secondary school for at least 4 hours per week.

Proof is provided by your school reports as part of the online degree programme application.

If the additional examination is taken during the degree programme, please note that it must be taken before the Bachelor's examination is completed and may not be the last examination of the degree programme.

Further information: At the University of Innsbruck, the additional examination in Descriptive Geometry can be taken as part of the Course programme programme. (e.g. VO Vorkurs Darstellende Geometrie and UE Vorkurs Darstellende Geometrie).

Greek

The additional examination in Greek is not required,

  • if this subject was successfully completed after the 8th grade at a secondary school for at least 10 hours per week.

Proof is provided by the school reports as part of the online application.

For degree programmes in which the additional examination in Greek can be taken during the degree programme, please note that this must be completed by the time the first diploma examination has been passed in the case of diploma degree programmes or by the time the bachelor's examination has been passed in the case of bachelor's degree programmes and may not be the last examination of the degree programme.

Latin

The additional examination in Latin is not required,

  • if at least 10 hours of Latin per week were successfully completed at a secondary school.

Proof of this is provided as part of the online degree programme application with the relevant school reports.

For degree programmes in which the additional examination in Latin can be taken during the degree programme, please note that this must be completed by the time the first diploma examination has been passed in the case of diploma degree programmes or by the time the bachelor's examination has been passed in the case of bachelor's degree programmes and may not be the last examination of the degree programme.

Admission test as proof of sporting aptitude

Admission examination as proof of artistic aptitude

In addition to the general admission procedure for the Bachelor's degree programme Secondary School Teacher Training (General Education), an entrance examination to prove artistic aptitude is required prior to admission for the subjects Art Education / Art and Design, Music Education / Instrumental Music, Music Education / Music, Technology and Textiles Training / Technology and Design.

From the winter semester 2026/27, an entrance examination is required for the Master's degree programme Secondary School Teacher Training (General Education) in the subjects: Art and Design, Instrumental Music, Music, Technology and Design.
