FAQs

This depends on the form in which your questions are available. If questions first have to be created in digital form, a considerable amount of time must be allowed for. The creation of a test (e.g. with a test module) in OpenOlat can take up to two weeks. If you are carrying out a test in OpenOlat for the first time, you should plan a sufficient time buffer. This will allow you and your colleagues, for example, to go through a test run and find any errors.

Information on conducting electronic examinations with modified examination modalities in accordance with §59 Abs.1 Z.12 UG 2002 can be obtained from the Office of the Disability Officer.

You can find help with the technical implementation at HelpCard 40-033 and further technical advice at the eCampus Helpdesk: e-campus@uibk.ac.at

Information on creating the test and a practice test can be found in the open course E-Assessment@uibk.

There are various options for setting up an exam in OpenOlat, ideally using the Test module. Information and instructions can be found under Tools, OpenOlat learning platform.
The OpenOlat course "E-Assessment@uibk" provides guidance on how to set up an electronic exam.

Questions from a Word file cannot be imported directly into OpenOlat, but it is possible to import questions from Excel using a template. You can find more details at Helpcard 40-021.

OpenOlat offers you more than one way to implement such a concept.

Task module: Tasks can be assigned and collected again in the task module. A very specific workflow can be defined here. Detailed information on the task module can be found at Helpcard 30-150 and Helpcard 30-151.

Participant folder: Students can use the participant folder to make submissions. Further information can be found at HelpCard 30-140.

The question pool allows you to flexibly integrate questions into various tests. You can create and manage your questions centrally in the question pool and also share them with other authors. Once you have created your questions directly in the question pool, you can import them into a test (see HelpCard 40-010).

Technically, it makes no difference whether individual students take an exam or 250. There are always several thousand people in the system at the same time during the day. An exam does not consume any additional resources per se. In this respect, we see no technical difference to "normal" operation.
The systems are fundamentally stable and are continuously adapted to requirements. Temporary problems can occur, as with any technical system. A complete system crash can also never be completely ruled out.
We recommend that you plan an appropriate backup scenario in the event of a cancellation. Additional dates and/or alternative testing methods should be planned here.

Our ZID hotline 0512 507 23999 will be happy to answer your questions on the subject of electronic testing.

We can also answer your questions in writing. Please send an e-mail to: eExams@uibk.ac.at
