30-032 Upload of Single or Zipped Files

Overview

In the course element Folder (see HelpCard 30-030) you can upload and download one document or multiple files with the help of a zipped archive.

A folder offers 1 GB of space to save your files. If necessary, you can request an increase of this space. To do this, please write an e-mail to e-campus@uibk.ac.at with the following information: title of the course/group and the title of the folder.

Important Steps

Uploading one file

  1. In your course open the folder you would like to upload your materials into.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, choose the Upload file button. The window for uploading files opens up.
  3. Click onto the symbol for choosing a file. A new window opens up.
  4. Choose the desired file/zip archive.
  5. Click twice or click onto Open. The file name will be shown in the window for the upload.
  6. Confirm your choice and the upload of the file/archive by clicking onto Upload. The file/archive will be shown in the folder. Depending on the size of the file/archive, the upload may take a while.

Upload zipped file

  1. In your course open the folder you would like to upload your materials into.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, choose the Upload file button. The window for uploading files opens up.
  3. Click onto the symbol for choosing a file. A new window opens up.
  4. Choose the desired zip archive.
  5. Click twice or click onto Open. The file name will be shown in the window for the upload.
  6. Confirm your choice and the upload of the file/archive by clicking onto Upload. The file/archive will be shown in the folder. Depending on the size of the file/archive, the upload may take a while.
  7. Choose the uploaded zip archive via a tick before the file name and click the Unzip button in the lower right-hand corner to make your files accessible for your students. Please note: If there is a file with 0 bytes in the zip archive, the archive will not be unzipped. The unzipped folder will show up as another folder in the course element.
  8. To avoid unnecessary confusion, it is recommended to transfer the files in the unzipped folder onto the higher level in the folder hierarchy and to delete both the now-empty unzipped folder as well as the zipped folder from the Course element.
    • To do that, open the unzipped folder and select all the files, then click onto the Move button. The Move object window opens up.
    • Choose the folder one level higher and click onto Move. If necessary, click onto the course element folder in the course navigation to refresh the page.
    • Choose the ZIP archive and the empty folder by ticking the box to the left of the file/folder name and click Delete.
    • Confirm your actions by clicking onto Yes. The files/folders have been deleted. The unzipped files are still present in the course element folder.
