These questions were the focus of the panel and fishbowl discussion "Career Development: Future Skills in the Euregio Labour Market" on 28 August as part of the Euregio Days of the European Forum Alpbach 2026.
"Rusty Treasure": Europe's Largest Trove of Iron Age Iron Bars Found
During gravel extraction in Upper Austria in 2019, workers uncovered a large quantity of rusted iron objects. Analyses and radiocarbon dating carried out by archaeologists led by Peter Trebsche of the University of Innsbruck have now identified the "rusty treasure" as Europe's largest known mass find of Iron Age iron bars. Detailed results on the one-tonne sensational discovery have been published in the renowned British journal Antiquity.
Bethe strings observed in ultracold atoms
Nearly a century after they were predicted by Nobel laureate Hans Bethe, a team led by quantum physicist Hanns-Christoph Nägerl has observed so-called “Bethe strings” in ultracold atoms. The ultracold gas provides an ideal platform for further investigation of these quantum many-body states.
