Elder Lakota and Mohawk leaders Loretta Afraid of Bear Cook, Tom Kanatakeniate Cook, and Milo Yellow Hair invite us into a dialogue of ancestral memory, historical and ongoing structural injustice, and regenerative future. Drawing from the strength of the ancient Iroquois Great Law of Peace and its confederacy of nations, which influenced the formation of America’s Constitution, and Oglala Lakota ceremonial life ongoing amidst chaos in the Lakota population, and with the food sovereignty mandate of the gardening program that Yellow Hair operates, they will reflect on the legacies of colonization, dispossession and racism in Indian country and share the spirit and counter measures they employ against the underdevelopment of their people.

Milo, Loretta, and Tom will share the teachings of history, oppression, resilience, and 50-year resurgence of the Native spirit across North America and beyond.

All are welcome (no prior knowledge required).
