Univ.-Prof. Dr. Helmut Staubmann


Helmut Staubmann is professor for social theory and cultural sociology and since March 2013 Dean of the School of Social and Political Sciences.

After studying sociology at the University of Vienna and at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), he habilitated in Sociology at the University of Innsbruck in the year 1994.

He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Vienna and a postgraduate diploma from the Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna - During 1991-92 he was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Maryland, College Park with an Erwin Schrödinger grant from the Austrian Science Foundation. During 1994-97 he was APART-fellow (Austrian Program for Advanced Research and Technology of the Austrian Academy of Science) at the University of Chicago, Stanford University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

He has been a visiting professor at the universities in Bolzano, Graz, Linz, and Salzburg. From August 2012 until March 2013 he was visiting fellow at the Harvard University.

Research Interests: International Relations, Foreign Policy Analysis, EU and US Foreign and Security Policy, Terrorism Research.

MMag. Sven Jeschke

Since 2008 Sven Jeschke is Personal Assistant to the Dean and Manager of the School of Social and Political Sciences.

In 2007 he completed his two Master Degrees in Political Science and in International Economics at the University of Innsbruck.

Besides his work in the Dean’s Office Sven Jeschke for the past years his research focus was on International Environmental Policy and Climate Change. Since 2014 he is trainer for apprentices at the University of Innsbruck. His research now is on apprenticeships. In 2016 he was conferred a distinction as a "Qualified Tyrolean Apprentice Trainer" by the Government of Tyrol.
