• 01st of March 2021: Welcome - Department for Applied Sociology of Law and Criminology
  As of March 1, 2021, the Department for Applied Sociology of Law and Criminology (IRKS) in Vienna will be part of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Innsbruck. The Department is one of the leading institutes in European security research. The non-university institution was founded in 1973 and develops the scientific basis for evidence-based practice in politics and society. It is now part of the University of Innsbruck with the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and the Federal Ministry of Justice, with which cooperation relationships have already existed. In the newly integrated department, 14 employees conduct research in Vienna. The faculty warmly welcomes all new employees!

• 22nd to 25th of September 2021: GfM annual conference 2021 „Wissensökologie“
  In September 2021, in addition to the annual GfM conference, the Department of Media, Society and Communication will also host the Media - Knowledge - Education Conference 2021: Ecological Crises and Ecology of Criticism. The event is planned in presence with online sessions. Therefore a free registration is absolutely necessary for participation! If the pandemic situation so requires, an online format will be used at short notice. The 3G rules as well as the rules specified by the University of Innsbruck apply to participation on site. You will be informed of these when you register or can be found on the homepage.
• 14th of October 2021: 50 Years Department of Sociology
  The Department of Sociology is 50 years old! On the occasion of this milestone anniversary there will be a ceremony with lectures. Registration and compliance with the 3G rule is necessary.
• POSTPONED: PhD-day Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
  DATE POSTPONED: The faculty invites you to the PhD day for presentations as part of the doctoral program. The new date will be announced quickly.
• 22nd to 26th of August 2022: ECPR General Conference in Innsbruck
  The ECPR General Conference 2022 will take place from 22nd to 26th of August at our faculty. Between 1.600 and 1.800 political scientists will meet for one week at the campus Universitaetsstrasse to discuss in 430 panels. It will be the first General Conference after 3 years that will again be held physically in presence.
