Flexible childcare

Description

In the "SpielRäume” of the University of Innsbruck, pedagogically qualified experts offer hourly childcare for children between six months and ten years of age. This childcare program complements conventional facilities, such as crèches, kindergartens or schools during the academic year. The SpielRäume are located in the new wooden building between the main university building and the river Inn.

Opening hours: Monday until Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Costs: 3 ,- €/ hour

Childcare during the holidays

Description

For many parents, it is very hard to organize childcare for their children during school or kindergarten holidays.

For this reason, the University of Innsbruck Children's Center organizes holiday programs (during the semester breaks and summer holidays) for children from three to ten years. The program is organized in the form of topic weeks and includes interesting excursions, numerous exciting games and creative handicraft activities.

Babysitter exchange

Description

The family service “Familienservice“ runs a free of cost online exchange website for Babysitters that all University members with children that mandate an active user account of the University of Innsbruck may use. This service ensures parents the fast and uncomplicated contacting of babysitters and therefor creates the possibility to manage even last-minute emergencies.

Description

The family service “Familienservice“ aims to improve the compatibility of career/studies and family for members of the University of Innsbruck and offers free information and advice regarding all questions related to children, childcare and care-taking of family members.

In cooperation with internal and external institutions, the family service “Familienservice“ offers free advice and information in the following areas:

  • individual forms of childcare and according offers
  • different possibilities for parental leave and comeback
  • legal regulations and possibilities for financial subsidies
  • further services and offers for families and care-taking family members

Leaves of absence

Description

The University of Innsbruck tries to consider and fulfil the wishes of employees under consideration of the support work/life balance, the general employee well-being and interests of further education. As far as it is possible within the business operation next to the legal leaves of absence such as maternal or paternal leave, applications for educational and care leaves are generally approved.

University teachers can apply for a research leave of absence to be released from those responsibilities which require their presence at University of Innsbruck facilities. Options include paid or unpaid research leaves of absence.

  • Scientific Staff can apply for research leaves of absence. Other leaves of absence are possible for all employees.

Description

Flexible working hours

Description

In consideration of private interests and responsibilities, the University of Innsbruck offers flexible working time models.

For whom?

  • Free scheduling of working time: Scientific staff under the collective employment agreement and executives of the general staff
  • Flextime: civil servants and contractual employees (“Beamte und Vertragsbedienstete”) as well as all general staff (except for those working in shifts).

Care of close relatives

Description

The compatibility of career and family is a challenge especially in times of sickness of family members.

Next to claims for the short-term nursing leave "Pflegefreistellung", there is the possibility to make use of the leave of care "Pflegekarenz", the reduction of working time "Pflegeteilzeit" or hospice leave "Familienhospizkarenz". Furthermore, for specific nursing cases additional special days off are granted.
