Additional 3.5 days off

Description

In addition to public holidays, University of Innsbruck employees can take the following days off, unless their presence at the job is absolutely necessary:

Half a day (from noon)

  • All Souls' Day (2nd November)
  • Shrove Tuesday
  • Good Friday

Full day

  • Christmas Eve (24th December)
  • New Year's Eve (31st December)

For whom?

  • In principle, for all employees; exceptions apply where personnel is required even on the days listed above (e.g. Obergurgl University Center, animal care etc.)

Work breaks

Description

The University of Innsbruck supports (i.e. counts as working time) work breaks, if they don't exceed a reasonable amount of time. This also includes lunch breaks of up to 30 minutes on days when an employee works for more than 6 hours. The lunch break cannot be taken at the beginning or end of the working time.

For whom?

  • General regulation for work breaks: all employees
  • Lunch break: general staff as well as civil servants and contractual employees in faculty positions

Works outing

Description

Once a year, the rector's team invites employees in central administration and in the secretaries' offices of the faculties to a 1-day works outing.  There is always a varied program including interesting items for the culturally interested and active sportspeople alike.

Holidays, holidays, holidays

Description

It is very important to have time off. Also in this regard the employees of the University have special benefits:

  • New employees with a starting date within the first half-year receive the whole-year holiday remuneration for the first working year in case they are employed until the next calendar year.
  • All employees may consume their holidays in accordance with their supervisors hourly.
  • Higher holiday remuneration is granted to civil servants from the 43rd year of age. But also employees of the collective agreement receive a higher remuneration before employees of private enterprise companies do.

Special holiday remuneration

Description

Often it is not easy to arrange private and official appointments at the same time. Therefore, employees of the University of Innsbruck are allowed extra off-duty days for specific private reasons.

New Year’s welcome
 of the rector, festival of the general staff and farewell of long-time employees

Description

Once a year the New Year’s welcome and festival of the general staff of the rector is celebrated, where all employees of the central administration and of the secretaries are presented a short outlook on the New Year and speeches of the rector and works council. Long-time staff is said good-bye to and 25- and 40- year service anniversaries are honored.

Employee festivities 

Description

In order to show their appreciation for the employees' daily commitment, once a year, the rector's team invites employees and their families to a party where the end of the study year is celebrated. The venue is the CCB (Centrum for Chemistry and Bio-Medicine, Innrain 82). The program includes a varied barbecue buffet supplied by the canteen and numerous musical and show acts. True to the motto “uni Innsbruck – be on the ball!” there is the opportunity for employees to test their fitness and moving talents at challenging and fun stations of the Institute for Sports Science and the USI. Moreover, a special children's sport program is offered.

Innsbruck city run

Description

"Uni runs" ("Uni läuft") for years has been the motto of the Innsbruck city run. In the scope of the internal health management there is a cooperation of the organizers of the running event and shall motivate all running fans of the University of Innsbruck to take part. Gratis running preparations, a cheaper starting tariff and a lottery with gratis starting tickets, gratis sport shirt and winning prices in an own Uni-evaluation are offered in an internal evaluation. According to the motto “Uni runs” fun should be at the center and a sense of community (also between employees and students) shall be created.

Tirolean companies' run

Description

The Tirolean companies’ run offers a great opportunity to strengthen the working climate and team spirit and to get to know colleagues in a relaxing surrounding outside the day-to-day business of the office. The Event is focused on fun and sense of community. In teams of 3, employees who are run enthusiastic can prove their skills in a running-challenge of 5,3 km or Nordic-walking-challenge of 3,6 km. The university funds the participation fees for all teams that run or walk for the University of Innsbruck.
