The Department of German Language and Literature Education is a young department that is in the process of being established. Its research and teaching activities are dedicated to the education of German teachers. It is part of the Department of subject-specific Education and has close links to the other didactic subjects, especially language didactics, as well as to the Institute for German Studies. For German Language and Literature Education as an academic discipline, a threefold division into literature, language and media didactics has become established. Innsbruck's German Language and Literature Education is particularly interested in intermedial relations between literature and other aesthetic forms of expression (music, graphic novels, film) as well as in interaction and conversation research.
